Engineering as a Service
A senior full-stack engineer by the month. You bring the work; your hours are reserved, every change is reviewable, and the code lives in your own repository.
Taking new clients · two engagements at a time
Who it's for
Startups without engineers
You have an MVP to build or rescue, or a live product nobody is keeping moving. You need someone who can build it and make the technical calls.
Organizations without a dev team
You have a backlog of website, integration and internal-tool work, and no one to give it to. Hiring for it would take months.
Agencies and IT firms
Your clients need development and you don't have developers. Reserve hours and put them to work on your clients' projects.
Plans and prices
You pay for reserved time, not a guess at scope. Every plan is priced at $125 an hour, and every engagement starts with a scoping session.
Scoping session
Four hours to understand the ask and recommend a plan.
$500
Every engagement starts here
- A call about your goals, users and constraints
- A read through your code, or your idea if there's no code yet
- A written plan and the tier it needs
- Credited to your first invoice

32 hours a month, about one day a week.
$4,000 / month
1-month minimum
Keeping an MVP moving, or looking after one app

$10,000 / month
3-month minimum
Building toward a launch, or working through a real backlog
- Everything in part-time

- Planning the next month's work with you
- Room for larger features end to end
Sprint block
40 hours a week for two to four weeks.
$5,000 / week
2-week minimum
Getting one big thing over the line
- Full-time focus on one goal
- Daily progress you can see on a preview link
- Steps down to part-time or half-time afterwards
The terms, in plain words
- Paid monthly in advance. Change or cancel with 30 days' notice after the minimum term.
- Unused hours don't roll over. Extra hours only with your written OK, at the hourly rate.
- All work lives in your own repository, and you own the code.
- Every change is a pull request you can review on a preview link before it ships.
- A written update every week: what was done, what's next, hours used.
- A reply within one business day.
How it works

A short call about the work, the people it's for and what's already built.
Scoping session
Four hours with your code or idea, then a written plan and the tier it needs.
Reserved time
Your hours are booked each month. You add to the backlog; I work through it in your order.

Every week, in writing: what shipped, what's next and the hours used.
Who you work with
Daniel Greener-Vigil, GreenField Dev's founder: a full-stack engineer with over a decade of experience. You work with him directly, with no account managers and no handoffs.
Built and kept running
- Ultra Crew: a paid race-planning app on web, iOS and Android, with accounts, subscriptions and live race-day tracking.
- Servicedesk: a self-hosted ticketing, SLA and asset system with Microsoft sign-in, sold with a licence and support.

Questions
Why not just hire an engineer?
A senior hire costs more than half-time here, takes months to find and is hard to undo. Start part-time, and if you outgrow it I'll help you hire and hand over cleanly.
What if you're busy with another client?
Your hours are reserved, and I take two engagements at a time so that's real. The weekly update shows where the hours went.
What happens to the code if we stop?
Nothing changes hands, because it was always yours. The code, tests and documentation live in your repository from day one, so any engineer can pick it up.
Can we get a fixed price instead?
Yes, for a well-defined project: that's a proposal with a fixed scope. When the work is ongoing or still taking shape, paying for time costs less than paying for the padding in a fixed quote.
Do you work with agencies?
Yes. Agencies and IT firms without developers can reserve hours for their own clients' work.
Start with a scoping session
Four hours, $500, credited to your first invoice. You'll leave with a written plan whether or not we work together.
